Internal styles

Internal styles

All existing wushu styles and schools can be divided on "external" and "internal". If muscular force and "harsh" technique are appropriate for "external" styles, "internal" styles operate with flexibility, “softness” and energy - Qi. The basic term "Qi" (vital energy) appeal to early Taoists systems and initial texts of natural philosophy, and also to the traditional Chinese medicine. Due to it, the most typical representatives of "external" styles are Shaolin wushu branches and discerning schools, while "internal" styles until recently were three basic ones: Taiqui, Pigua and Cinji.

Master’s opinion

Opinions of masters...

Despite many flaws of this system it was widely spread all over the world started at the end of 1920s. However recently due to the present tendency of traditional wushu revival in China, expert researches in this field have made essential additions. Thus, some researchers ( including a well-known master of traditional wushu Tszi Tszjanchen) now add several west styles to "internal": Lio Ho Pa Fa, Shi San Taibo, Tszu Ran tsuan, Vu Xin tsuan, I tsuan, Tszu Men tsuan, " the Southern white crane ", " 18 Lohan ", and also Baji tsuan.

The founder of taitszicuan Sune style, Sune Lutan, marked: "Taiji contains Great Emptiness, Bagua - dialectics of changes, Sinji - correct strike. Their general base is flawless self-defense, and only unjust suffers defeat. Cinji is applied against physically strong opponent, but it is wrong to use it against weak. Bagua brings freedom of every possible transformation, taitszi - integrity. Having united these three systems, you may reach ultimate softness. Holding your hand as a baby, you may unexpectedly and powerfully apply it against your opponent.

Although a noble person does not seek for an opportunity to use his courage, he will apply force or will make changes without it if it has to be done. Besides, practicing this art, they don’t look forward to make away with the opponent, but, being strong-willed and humane, a person brings up kindness. If history to be addressed, we’ll see that wise governors of past Yao and Shun, Jui, Tan, Ven and Uh were truly fair. They didn’t make themselves higher than the Heavenly country, but it didn’t not surpass them.

It fully complies with the principle of the stated by Chjuan-tszi doctrine who asserted that "in Dao comprehension you won’t be able to make a step without art".
